So we had the windows on the S60 tinted the other day. The same guy who did the C30s windows. Look great, except the back. He ran into some issues with the defroster. It had no tint before but they still peeled. Those little lines are bits of the defroster. What do you recommend we do? Call him? New window? Just clean the wire out? Live with it? More pics in comments.
Edit: The majority of the defroster does work. It only doesn’t on the two lines where there are breaks.

call him at the very least. I have to assume the defroster isn’t working now, and the fact that the parts are right there would suggest it occured whilst they were doing the tint. What’s the harm in a phone call. Maybe get a partial refund and be happy with it, if you are ok with no rear defroster. It’s likely a pre-existing weakness was there in the defroster wiring prior to the tinting.

The majority of the defroster still works. Just the broken segments don’t heat up at all.
Apparently it’s a common issue on Fords, Jaguars, and Volvos (makes sense they probably still use the same supplier)

Your defroster is probably slightly broken and possibly nonfunctional.

There are defroster wiring repair kits that are basically conductive goo in a bottle you spread where the original lines were.
But it’s usually intended for small breaks; what you’ve got going on here might be outside of the bounds.

You’d also have to peel the tint off to perform the repair.

Yeah, you definitely would. Sorry, I misread the original post.

If you lived somewhere where ice and snow were a concern then I would be concerned but since you live in FL I would just leave it or have him redo the back window after you tried using one of the wire repair kits that the other posters suggested.

Do the broken lines matter to you? If so call him. Just say ‘hey, the tint job looks great but those broken defroster lines are going to cause a problem for me. What can you do about it?
Be polite and understanding, he’s a tinting guy, he will hopefully have some experience with this issue.

I did a search on the internet for a solution to your window tint problem and all I got was this:
Problems from living in a wealthy, industrialized nation that third worlders would probably roll their eyes at.
Aw, crap, I don’t know which 1 carat diamond encrusted platinum ring to buy!
My new TV was too big to fit inside my Mercedes so I had to rent a truck from Home Depot to get it home.
My 7 dollar starbucks latte came with ONE espresso shot instead of the TWO I asked for!

If I’m honest I would leave it. Maybe make the shop aware that defrost lines are fragile things but there in nothing doing in fixing that with out a whole lot of work.
